ZipLip, Inc. Integrates Unified Email Archival Suite with EMC® Centera™ Content Addressed Storage (CAS)
Integration between the ZipLip Unified Email Archival Suite and EMC Centera delivers a sophisticated, end-to-end archiving and storage solution for enterprises
San Jose, CA - February 21 2006 - ZipLip, Inc., today announced it has completed integration between its Unified Email Archival Suite and EMC Centera CAS. EMC Centera represents a software-driven active enterprise archive specifically designed to address the unique information storage requirements of unchanging digital assets. It allows ZipLip customers to tackle compliance issues using a highly-available storage infrastructure, at a fraction of the cost of traditional storage technologies. Combined with Centera, customers enjoy a complete compliance solution, with the capabilities to search and retrieve archived messages for discovery purposes and centrally manage users' personal mailboxes.
ZipLip's carrier-class background in scalability and 100% Java software provide customers with the flexibility they need to meet today's increasing demands on their messaging environments. EMC Centera Compliance Edition further extends the records retention and preservation capabilities of the Unified Archival Suite, enabling Compliance Officers and IT administrators to meet the challenge of managing their organization's growing volume of electronic records and communications, while still being compliant with strict regulatory requirements.
"Compliance is not just about exposing liabilities; it's about maintaining the integrity and speed of response to email content. EMC Centera integrated with ZipLip's Archival Suite gives companies peace of mind from knowing that email storage policies are compliant with regulations," said Kon Leong, CEO of ZipLip. "Integrating with EMC Centera Compliance Edition enables ZipLip to provide customers with a cost-effective, highly available, compliant-capable storage method for corporate email and other electronic communications."
Mark Avery, EMC Director, Centera Markets and Alliances, said, "The integration between EMC Centera and ZipLip's Unified Email Archival Suite benefits joint customers by addressing their most pressing business challenges while lowering costs and improving service levels throughout the information lifecycle."
Whether fueled by regulatory requirements, digitization of industries such as healthcare and financial services, drive operational efficiencies, or to address good corporate governance initiatives, digital assets, once relegated to tape archives, optical disks, or file cabinets, must be stored online. Just as the growth of applications such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) and the explosion of the Web drove the use of network attached storage (NAS) as an enterprise storage strategy, the need to manage, protect and access fixed content is the driving force behind CAS, a new category of networked storage.
