It is the middle of the summer, but it feels like spring at ZL. I can’t just attribute that to the year-round springy California weather, either (sorry, east coast). There is just a lot of newness, buzz, and excitement in the air. It’s not just our new analytics product; it’s that the company is in an exciting phase of growth.
The feeling starts with our new office; we only moved a few miles north and are still in the heart of Silicon Valley, but the open office concept has been quite the new experience! I have broken free from my lonely cubicle den to being able to see everyone on our side of the office. Now I can observe everyone else working like the busy bees we are. I am pretty sure everyone is jealous of my colleague Annie, since she sits across from me and clearly has the best view in the whole place.
The new spring feeling definitely starts with the office itself and our modern desks, sun shining through our overabundance of large windows, and glass walled conference rooms. It definitely does not end there though. People are also buzzing with excitement for a large summer class of new hires about to begin training. To quote Ricky Bobby, I am sure we will be proud of how “precocious and full of wonderment” these new hires will be. All of the various teams at ZL will be very excited to see who ends up becoming the newest additions.
Here on the Customer Relations team, we are ecstatic to see what lucky newbies we will have to our team; but again, this is not the only reason we are buzzing and excited. Analytics! Speaking of buzzing, there is a buzzword for you, and a highly-anticipated one at that. But why would analytics excite the Customer Relations team so much, you ask? Well, as our new hires will soon learn, our springy feel goes much deeper than just hiring new people and moving to new offices: spring brings change, growth, and evolution. Those are the true consistent themes of the company.
Customer Relations at ZL has a unique role in the development of our analytics product by seeing the world through the business users’ eyes. We have a distinct vantage point, seeing how the company has grown from offering secure mail, to compliance, to storage management, to eDiscovery, to records management, and now to analytics. However, it probably is not obvious to outsiders just how much we grow and evolve with each of our customers even within those offerings. Each new customer is very unique and brings new and distinct requirements, workflows, ingestion needs, enhancements, and feature requests. With each new customer, the ZL Unified Archive® continues to evolve as a product.
Within this ZL UA product, ZL Enterprise Analytics™ is the most recent addition. Now, one might assume that since I am not in sales or development, I might not harbor this same buzzy excitement for analytics, but this is far from the truth. The customer relations team is actually the team that will end up shaping the initial evolution of this product. Much like we continue to grow the other modules with our many customers and implement enhancements and feature requests for those companies’ constantly evolving needs, with analytics, we are talking with them about exactly what more they would want from an analytics environment. Our customers don’t just provide feedback of the features we’ve developed, they drive the development of the features themselves.
The possibilities are endless, and I enjoy our fantastic approach of working with companies to grow a product that is needed, rather than pushing a rigid product that disrupts existing practices. Analytics is here, and like a seed, it will only take root and grow.
Yes, it may be the middle of July, but here at ZL, spring is definitely in the air!
